History of Gao-Shan-Pai-Wu-Shu

The system began more than 40 years ago with the "tiger" system of kung fu. The training was hard and demanding and required the
utmost dedication, the same as it does today. When the martial arts became popular with the television series "Kung Fu" and "Bruce Lee" films, the membership of martial art clubs increased rapidly and unfortunately in many cases the martial arts became misused, resulting in the government  intervening and demanding that all clubs must be in a  responsible Association.

Up until this time we had been members of the Shaolin Boxing
Association, but to widen our knowledge of the Gao Shan Pai Wu Shu system, we decided to join the British karate Association, which catered for Japanese and Chinese methods. We added Aikido and Judo techniques. The Gao Shan system began to shape into an well-organised effective system of self-defence. After a few years, as the martial arts "craze" began to wane, we went it alone and formed the Gao Shan Pai Wu Shu Association. Although the association has now disbanded the system is still running. There are seven clubs in the Gao Shan system covering most of Nuneaton, Galley Common, Stockingford, Chapel End, and Wembrook. The age of the students ranges from six years old upwards.
